In one format or another, we have been creating, managing and monetising TV-based information services for over 30 years.
It all started in the early 1980s with the viewdata service Prestel (in many ways the forerunner of the internet) which allowed people, amongst other things, to use online banking, book holidays and play interactive games and quizzes. We published various services for national tourist offices, airlines, government departments, magazines and other organisations.
In the 1990s, we extended our portfolio to include the original second-screen application - teletext. Over the course of the decade, we published services for Sky Sports, National Geographic, MTV Europe and CNBC Europe and, in the 'noughties', Setanta, At The Races and Racing UK. More recently, we have been focused on the potential for exploiting information services on new platforms - online, mobiles, tablets, digital signage - but not forgetting the most powerful medium of all: television.
